Engineers Visit School to Inspire and Ignite Interest in Environmental Engineering

With a strong focus on the connection between humans and the environment, Geography plays a vital role in understanding our world. We are delighted to announce that our school has partnered with the esteemed non-profit organization, Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JA Hong Kong), to bring two accomplished female engineers from Arup, Miss Melody Wong and Miss Kelly Chu, for a sharing on their expertise and experiences with our students during their visit to Ho Lap College in early March. Their invaluable insights have undoubtedly inspired our students and deepen their understanding of the fascinating world of engineering. Moreover, this event has successfully sparked interest and has the potential to inspire our students to envision and create their ideal cities in the future.

Remarks:

Arup, an internationally acclaimed engineering consulting firm, is known for its involvement in numerous prestigious projects. Some of their notable contributions include the iconic Beijing Olympic venues, such as the “Bird’s Nest” (National Stadium) and the “Water Cube” (National Aquatics Center), as well as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail.

Miss Melody Wong is a sustainable development engineer who has been involved in the design of several large-scale green building projects in Hong Kong. include AIRSIDE, Tower 1 in Taikoo Place etc

Miss Kelly Chu is a trainee engineer in the railway sector. She has been involved in the design work of the Northern Link project, she is currently working on the design of an underwater tunnel project for the Central Kowloon Route.
