Moral and Civic Education

Objectives of the Committee:

Value Education

  • To promote values education through nurturing in students the ten priority values and attitudes: “Perseverance”, “Respect for Others”, “Responsibility”, “National Identity”, “Commitment”, “Integrity” , “Care for Others”, “Law-abidingness” , “Empathy” and “Diligence”
  • To develop students’ ability to identify the values embedded, analyse objectively and make reasonable judgement in different issues they may encounter so that they could take proper action to deal with the challenges in their future life

Sense of National Identity

  • To cultivate a sense of national identity among students and help them understand their responsibility, as Chinese, to protect our family and our country and to share joys and sorrows
  • To nurture students a sense of belonging to our country and help them correctly understand Chinese history, appreciate Chinese culture and traditional values, respect the national symbols and signs, and understand the importance of the Constitution, the Basic Law, and national security

Media and Information Literacy

  • To cultivate media and information literacy among students so that they can process information from different media in a rational and responsible manner

Practical Experience

  • To arrange authentic learning experiences such as field visits, volunteer services, overseas visits and exchange programmes for students to practise positive values and attitudes, and experience the joy and excitement of upholding positive values and attitudes

Life Education

  • To cultivate students’ attitudes of respecting and cherishing life and exploring the meaning of life through life-wide learning opportunities and real-life learning experiences
