Xi’an Historical and Cultural Study Tour

In order to explore the history of this ancient capital of ten dynasties in China, 23 of S4 and S5 students from our school enjoyed a wonderful tour to Xi’an from June 27 to July 2 this year.
We visited the Banpo Museum to learn about the characteristics of the Yangshao culture from the Neolithic period. In the Terracotta Army Museum and the Mausoleum of the first Qin emperor, we witnessed the supreme power of Qinshihuang.
Additionally, the Tomb of Wu Zetian and the Daming Palace had demonstrated us the greatness of the Tang Dynasty. The Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City showed us how modern shopping centers modeled after Tang Dynasty architecture. At the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, we witnessed the hardships faced by Chinese monks who travelled to India to seek Buddhist scriptures. The Muslim Quarter in Xian helped us understand how the Chinese people integrated with Muslims, showcasing a diverse unity.
The Xi’an Incident Memorial Hall gave us insight into the crisis of Japanese invasion in the 20th century and the necessity of collaboration between the Nationalist and Communist parties for the sake of national integrity.
The students were divided into four groups, they have submitted remarkable reports about their reflections on historical sites and a deeper appreciation of the essence of five thousand years of Chinese culture.
